‘Open Hold’ is a term originating from the dancing world. It describes dancers holding each other’s hands in a relaxed way, rather than a formal ‘ballroom hold’.
This painting was inspired by the appreciation of the freedom we enjoy in the UK for all couples, irrespective of their orientation, to express their simple affection in public. Set with Brick Lane and the Truman Brewery as its backdrop
